We are proud to share our home, The Birch Bower, with you, as a luxury lakefront home that is wheelchair and mobility friendly! You can see the full home listing here, but we wanted to share a few of our favorite features with you.
Flat entry to the house from all sides, with gentle ramp to the back patio and snow-melt in the concrete slab on the front entry porch.
Wide rooms, wide doorways, and hallways
This bedroom on the ground floor can accommodate those who use a wheelchair or walker, and includes grab bars in the wheel-in shower and around the commode, as well as a wheel-under sink and a pivoting mirror, and a teak shower bench.
ADA-grade path from the patio through the forest down to the dock
Flat access to the dock
Please also note that the ADA-grade path to the lake does not give access to the fire pit – the Maryland Department of Natural Resources regulates the area directly around the lake and permits only one path through the buffer strip.
