Get the inside scoop on a great home! Jessie, Marketing Director of Red Barn Vacations, recently spent a cozy winter weekend in our cabin, Wispy on the Rocks, and shares her experience in the home.
Jessie’s Story:
Like many you, I’ve been battling a fierce case of cabin fever for more than a few months now. Desperate for a get-away, I realized that I didn’t have to go far to take advantage of all the trimmings of a fabulous weekend escape.
I chose the Red Barn Vacations home, Wispy on the Rocks, for a couple of reasons: the cabin atmosphere, the open layout, the newness of everything, and of course, the fabulous amenities!
If you can’t tell from the photos, Wispy on the Rocks is located among the trees atop the mountains near the Lodestone Golf Course and Wisp Resort. There are scarcely any neighbors nearby and I LOVED the still quiet of the surrounding woods.
I spent a lot of time staring out the windows or enjoying the scenery from the outdoor hot tub and fireplace. Even with my eyes glued outside, I did not see a single person or neighbor the whole weekend. It was quite the treat!
Here were my favorite parts of my weekend away.
The Hot Tub
I can’t emphasize enough how great it was to sit out there in the snow. Tucked around the back of the house, up against the woods, the hot tub here is perfectly serene and private.
The Fireplace
Seriously: I had the best afternoon ever. I grabbed a bottle of wine, a hefty book (the newest Ron Chernow biography of President Grant which I found in the home and promptly ordered for my own), and cranked up the fireplace. I even took advantage of the Red Barn Vacations concierge service to have a robe waiting for me. The view of the softly falling snow out the window was a huge added bonus.
Playing Games
My boyfriend and I packed a deck of cards and some of our favorite games and whittled away many, many hours laughing together at the dining room table.
The Inside Scoop
If you are considering a stay of your own, here are a few things you should know. I can personally, and confidently, attest to all of these things:
- You will sleep well. The beds are super comfortable and the linens are divine! No scratchy fabric, old pillows, or lumpy beds here!
- The kitchen is very well-appointed. I did not leave the home all weekend and cooked all my meals here. As I cooked and ate (which I did often), I never found the kitchen lacking in supplies and everything was in great shape. Even for a larger group, there is more than enough of everything to go around!
- The whole house feels new and pristine (but still welcoming and comfortable).
- The couch rocks.
I loved my time here and I hope I can convince a few of you to take the plunge: a stay here is so, so great. The home has four bedrooms, so you can easily scale your vacation up a little and bring along a couple of close family or friends if you chose.
